Mexico

For the month of October I moved to Laval, Quebec and sold jewelry to fund my trip to Mexico. I’ll be here for the whole winter, with no big plans as of yet, but I do plan on bringing some gems and silver back with me.

Unfortunately, Bravenet had the guts to suddenly change the disk space limit from 50MB to 5MB, meaning that since my jewelry website is taking up 35MB of space, no one can access it unless I pay a monthly fee. I can’t work on it at the moment, so my website will be down until I return. In the meantime, here’s the only pictures I have of some of my jewelry.

So far I’m booked for February 18th and April15th, and I’ll be at the Ladies Night Out event in Unity on March 14th.

Ready for something new to do at home? How about host a jewelry party?

It’s easy and fun! Simply put, I display my jewelry in your home on a day of your choice, you invite your friends, family and co-workers over for them and you to browse through my selection of one-of-a-kind jewelry and beads, and in the end you receive free jewelry for helping me show my art to new customers! (The amount depends on how successful the party was, and you get to choose from a selection of jewelry) You and all of your friends, family and co-workers can have a great time trying on all kinds of different jewelry at your own pace, without having to go to the mall. Since I always carry my tools and beads with me, I can customize anything anyone wants.

You don’t have to prepare anything, that’s my job. If you have a couple of tables to lend me for the event, that’d be appreciated, otherwise I bring all of my own displays and equipment. You only have to inform people of the upcoming event. The amount of time I’d spend at your house would be about 2-3 hours prior to the showing, the actual “open” hours, and about 1 hour afterwards. It helps a lot if I can see the room I’ll be working in before the jewelry party date, or get the dimensions and a picture of the room and tables available. I’m willing to host jewelry parties in Wilkie, Unity and surrounding areas, and North Battleford if there will be a decent amount of people attending the event. I can host for those who live further, but there will be a fee for fuel and time on the road. As for costs, you end up getting to view hundreds of pieces of jewelry in your own home and end up with free jewelry. It doesn’t cost you anything, except for some jewelry that you might end up purchasing!

I’ve been making jewelry for the last 4 years and own thousands of beads; gemstones, pearls, glass, metals, woods, shells, and clay beads. I currently have over 350 pieces of jewelry for sale. Most of them are necklaces, the rest are bracelets, earrings, bookmarks, keychains, cat/dog neckaces and hair decoration and they all come in a great variety of styles. I also have a wide selection of beads and pendants for sale.

In April 2009 I’ll be moving to Ontario to work on a sailboat with my husband. Once the repairs and renovations are done, we’ll be living on it and will sail the world! I’ll be bringing my jewelry business with me and will continue to take orders and sell jewelry online, but there’s not much time left to book for a jewelry party. Your help is greatly appreciated as it will help fund our sailboat project! The Blue Bead VS Gemstone Jar

Some of you may know that I’ve been trying to get my new jewelry website up since the past 5 months or so, and it’s still not finished. Yes, it’s pretty pathetic, but I’m finally going back at it and am making decent progress. I’m just getting into pricing items and I’ve yet to put up necklaces and bracelets and the such, but the earrings and bookmarks are up. You just can’t buy them yet. Please don’t try to buy any jewelry if you see add-to-cart buttons, those have yet to be tested. If you really want to purchase something, let me know and we can do the transaction through e-mail =).

I’m trying to keep it simple and earthy, but I hope that the menu table isn’t too bland. (My skills are limited) Please be honest and give me as much constructive critisicm as you want! Colors, layout, easy of use, jewelry, prices, information, pictures, sizes, text, and all of that. I can’t make it better if no one tells me what needs to be fixed. I sometimes worry that my tastes are strange to others. Personally, one of the things that’s bugging me a lot right now is the title picture on the main page. I love how I wrote the words with beads and gemstones, but I think that the picture is too dark and “aggressive”. Do you agree? I’ve yet to figure out which picture I’m going to put in the top right corner of every page…

I can’t wait to get the site up and working. Then I’ll finally allow myself to post all my new jewelry! I have over 30 new necklaces and a bunch of earrings, bookmarks, keychains and bracelets to put up.

Welcome to my Jar Of Thoughts! This blog is an add-on for my jewelry website, which will have pictures and articles about my work space and equipment that I work with, my personal collection of beads, information on gemstones and special events coming up.

Finishing the new website is taking a lot longer than planned, with three main reasons being the cause of it: 1 being that I had trouble getting some website things to work properly and kind of dropped the project for a while, 2 being that I’ve drastically changed my diet and have been busy finding recipes, cooking and figuring out ways to eat healthier, which is better explained in my other blog The No-Crap-Diet, 3 being that I’ve got huge plans coming up in a couple of months, which is better explained in yet another blog The Canoe.
